medwireNews: The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) has issued clinical guidance for the care of people with rheumatic diseases in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

These recommendations were developed by the ACR COVID-19 Clinical Guidance Task Force, comprising 10 rheumatologists and four infectious disease specialists from North America. They provide guidance on the risk for COVID-19 among rheumatology patients, as well as direction on when to start, stop, or reduce different medications.

“All recommendations are based on current knowledge and will be revised as circumstances and evidence evolve,” says the ACR in a press release.

The guidance is published in Arthritis & Rheumatology as a “living document,” with future updates planned as more evidence becomes available.
