medwireNews: EULAR has released updated recommendations for the management of large vessel vasculitis, including giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu arteritis.
These guidelines form an update of the 2009 EULAR recommendations, and aim “to facilitate the translation of current scientific evidence and expert opinion into better management and improved outcome of patients in clinical practice,” say Bernhard Hellmich (Universität Tübingen, Germany) and co-authors.
They note that the updated guidelines include “substantial alterations” from the 2009 publication, including “new recommendations on early diagnosis, multidisciplinary management and relapse treatment.”
The full set of guidelines is published as an open-access article in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
